Instagram

Instagram is a photo and video-sharing social networking social media site owned by Facebook. Authors that put out a lot of video and photographic content will probably find this social media platform a good fit.

Instagram allows users to upload photos and videos to the service, which can be edited with various filters, and organized with tags and location information. Posts can be shared publicly or with pre-approved followers. You can browse other Instagram users’ content, using tags or location. And you can view trending content because why not copy ideas from other social media.

Getting started with Instagram

1. Download the app

Instagram is social media for the smart-phone generation (most users are under 35). To use it, you need to get it on your phone.

2. Fill out your profile

You do have a website or blog, right? Make sure you drop a link in the appropriate field.

Your bio is the first thing people learn about you, so take the time to write a good one.

3. Follow some people

Start with people you know and then move on to users who are also authors. Try and find those with a large active following. It will likely be a good idea to model your posting on theirs.
