Author Buzz Recommended Plugins

These plugins are all recommended by Author Buzz for authors to consider for their WordPress website. All of these plugins are available for Author Buzz blogs.

These plugins are all available from the install new plugins section fo your blog or (if you are using an Author Buzz blog) they are all there ready for you to use.

Akismet Anti-Spam

One of the best anti-spam systems ever invented for WordPress. With it running spam is reduced to almost nothing at all.

Business Directory Plugin

Business Directory Plugin is not a plugin that everyone should use. Far from it. Business Directory Plugin should only be used for blog owners who have a definite niche for which a directory would be suitable.

This is the plugin that powers the directory on the main Author Buzz website.

GDPR

GDPR compliance can be a bit of a headache. This plugin makes it much easier to be 100% EU legal.

Calls to Action / Landing Pages / Leads

Three separate plugins but they work very well together. Combined they have the entire workflow from landing pages, lead collection, and stylish calls to action.

All three are available with Author Buzz blogs.

Novelist

Novelist allows you to easily organize and display your portfolio of books. Which is perfect if you have more than one or two titles out already.

We are looking at ways of integrating this directly into your author profile on Author Buzz. That is proving to be a bit tricky but Matt is working on it.

Meanwhile, this plugin is available for all blogs on Author Buzz.

My Book Progress

If you are doing NaNoWriMo, this plugin is the one for you. My Book Progress is a WordPress plugin which helps authors show off their progress with customized progress bars, gain subscribers, and hit deadlines. If you have a work in progress and you are thinking about blogging with updates for your fans. This is definitely something you want to consider..

Like every last one of these plugins, My Book Progress is ready to activate on an Author Buzz blog.

Redirection

This is the plugin I have made mention of in a few places. After you set it up (you do need to do that after install), you can have it detect changes and redirect traffic from old URLs.

Social share with floating bar

If you want a floating social share bar, this plugin has you covered.

Syntax Highlighter

This one is here mostly because we use it on the Dev blog to talk about code. If your books are all about code, this might be what you want but for fiction writers, you can go ahead and ignore this plugin. It’s available to author buzz bloggers if you want it.

WordPress Editorial Calendar

This tool is amazing. Seriously, in terms of just getting organised with your publishing schedule, the calendar is just incredible. I highly recommend it.

As you would expect, the calendar is available to all Author Buzz blogs.

WP Progress Bar

If you want to put some progress bars into your blog. This plugin will make that happen for you. We installed it during testing. It works well and makes nice progress bars. Author Buzz bloggers have it available. Not much more to say really. It does exactly what it says on the tin.

Write Share Writing Community Platform

This plugin is aimed at Fan Fiction writers and pretty much anyone else who wants to just publish their story, chapter by chapter, on their blog. I’ve used it on my own blog, for short stories that were written just for fun and I figured I would just stick up there for people to read.
