The one secret of great blogs

Without any fuss or any lists to sign up for, I am going to teach you the biggest secret in blogging. This is the one thing you need to know in order to create compelling blog posts that sell books.

Make friends with people.

Now I acknowledge that secret might have shot past so fast some people might have missed it. So, here it is again – this time in bold text.

Make friends with people.

Make friends with people.

Seriously, this is important stuff. Make friends with your readers. Make friends with your potential readers. Make friends with your peers who write in the same genre as you.

When you have done that, you can ask them what matters to them. What are they interested in? What do they care about? What are their interests and passions?

Do not just ask. Be actively interested. Treat this like a first date – you are looking for clues you can use in the second and third dates to ensure the fourth date happens.

Once you have mastered this technique, you can go on to level two.

Make friends with the right people.

The right people?

What is the purpose of dating? Isn’t it to help you find that special person with whom you will share your life?

Right, the same as socialising. You can be friendly with a lot of people but you keep a handful of close friends that you defer to regularly.

The same goes for your blogging. Find your key people. The people that really get your style of writing. The people that really “dig” you genre. The people that will be truly excited at the news of your new book.

Go dig into the social media section. Take a close look at that first word – social. This is not rocket science this is just making friends with strangers on the internet and then writing about things that they will love to read.

That is all you have to do. Go and build lasting friendships.
